Sail on Santa Monica Bay!

Sailing IV:
"Outside Ocean Sailing Qualification"

Requirements for qualification are:

* Independent sailing time consists of rental hours, racing, day sails, clinics, participating as a Teaching Assistant, or any combination of non-class sailing at the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center within the prior three months.

Ocean Sailing Area

Outside Ocean Sailing: The sailing area is Santa Monica Bay within three (3) nautical miles of the North end of the Marina del Rey detached breakwater in 20 knots of wind or less. This area is approximately bounded by the Santa Monica sea buoy "1" to the north and the El Segundo sea buoy "2ES" to the south.

Under NO circumstances may Lasers be sailed unaccompanied outside the marina regardless of the qualification of the skipper.  Lasers sailed outside MUST be in the company of another monohull whose skipper is also "Outside Ocean Sailing Qualified" at UCLA.
